The Importance of Sports Handicappers

Sports would never be the same without sports handicappers. They help the sports enthusiasts to take risks in the sporting world. While the ordinary sports enthusiast will place bets on different games and teams without doing adequate research, the handicapper is there to perform this role. They are a source of information and they use this information to their advantage. They have great analytical skills and they work with a lot of statistics. Many handicappers will spend much of their time focusing on only one type of sports while others will handicap multiple sports. Whatever sport they are involved in their job is to help the client get a good profit on their betting undertakings.
Horse racing handicappers
These handicappers mirror the excitement and concentration involved in the sport of horse racing. This type of sport is not a seasonal one so these sports handicappers are normally working on a daily basis. Their job can be a tricky one but even amateurs will soon understand the various strategies associated with horse racing handicapping. The handicapper has to get the daily form used in the races. They have to know how to read and interpret the information on the daily form. These include information such as past performance of the horse and jockey and other relevant information. In the same way that sports handicappers for other sports are concerned about the players in terms of injuries and physical condition it is the same way that horse racing handicappers have to look at the horse to determine certain outcomes. The odds in each race with regards to public opinion are very important for these handicappers. They can use that information to help them with their bets.
Who can become sports handicappers
Anyone who has an avid interest in sports can become a sports handicapper. Many people follow sports consistently and are only concerned about the satisfaction that they gain from this habit. Sports handicappers take the love of sports a bit further in deciding to get some financial benefit from something that they love. It can be quite a rewarding job and easy to break into. One doesn't have to have any form of academic qualification to be a handicapper although the handicapper should be smart enough to be able to gather the relevant information, statistics and analyze them. They also have to have good organizational skills and it is extremely important to know how to sell. It is a demanding job and as long as one has the interest in sports and is prepared to work hard then they can take a chance.
Accessing the services of sports handicappers
Many sports handicappers are employed with handicapping services. These services normally have a number of handicappers who work with them. Some handicappers work individually. It is becoming a common practice for handicappers to work online. Here they communicate with their clients principally by email. Many handicappers offer daily packages while others have seasonal ones. They arrange their services to suit the needs of their clients.

Designing and Decorating a Sports-Themed Nursery

Whether you are having a boy or girl, decorating a nursery in sports décor will be hit. As parents, you can bring your love of the game into your baby's room. You can decorate with décor of your favorite team or with a generic sports theme for a specific sport such as football, baseball, baseball, hockey or soccer. Finding this décor should be easy and a very affordable way for you to decorate your baby's room.
Here are some tips to help you, as parents, get into the decorating sports game:
• There is no one wall color that is best for a sports theme nursery. Go beyond the traditional pink, blue and yellow paint. You can choose to use the color of your favorite team.
• Once the walls are done, you can add sports theme wall paper or wall paper border. You can also paint a mural of your team's logo, your favorite sports scene, your favorite sports venue or various sports ball. You can also combine paint and wallpaper with adhesive wall decals. These can be easily applied and removed allowing you to change the look and feel of the nursery on a whim.
• Next, choose crib sets, window treatments and area rugs in your theme whether it be your favorite sports team or a generic theme. You can accent this with stuffed animals and throw pillows representing your sports team mascot or specific sport.
• Next, add sports accessories to the nursery. Dressers and bookshelves are great places to decorate with helmets, toy balls, or even stuffed animals dressed as sports players or wearing your favorite team's jersey. You can even decorate with storybooks with covers portraying sports themes or your favorite sports team. You can face some outward so that the sports covers show and add style to the room. You can also place the books in sports-shaped bookends or bookends of your favorite team. You can also add hooks and hang pennants and sports flags from the ceiling or hang pictures of your favorite sports player.
• You can also personalize your baby's nursery by placing baby pictures in sports-themed frames or with frames depicting your favorite sports teams. You can even take pictures on your baby in sports themed baby clothes or clothes of your favorite team and place in the frame. You can personalize them even further by adding your baby's name to the frame.
• Finally, don't forget the lighting. You can choose from table lamps, wall lamps, night lights or light switch covers in your favorite team's colors with you teams logo or in generic fashion. These lighting products offer illuminating and soft glow lighting while allowing you to show off your team spirit and loyalty with decorative pieces you can be proud to display.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless for decorating and designing a sports-themed nursery - helping parents create a lifetime of happy memories.

The Benefits Kids Get by Playing Athlete Sports

Signing your kid up for an athletic sport is one of the surest ways to keep them off the couch. Also by participating in sports it helps kids excel in school and gives them a boost in their self esteem. Plus it provides them with a better understanding of discipline, fair play, and teamwork. That is if you have found the right sport for you kid. A child who may not be successful in a competitive sport may thrive in martial arts. More important how do these sport activities affect the soccer mom or the family chauffeur? Here is a list on which sport is the best choice for your young athlete and possibly less of a headache for your kid's biggest fan, yourself.
Soccer is a true team sport. Relinquish the ball when appropriate is a key to success, so kids learn the value of cooperation. Because the players never stop moving, they get an intense workout. Girls who make up nearly half of the more than 3million youth soccer players in the United States are just as likely to be stars as boys. This sport is best for kids with speed and energy to burn, as well as those who have concerns of being placed on individual performance.
Baseball and softball adds values to kid's youthful life. We remind kids that even the best hitters of all time strike out seven or more times within the season. Baseball teaches kids a great lesson in perseverance. This sport is excellent for most kid, and it is a good choice for a child who likes being around people and who's got a competitive edge.
Basketball is a team sport that can also be played alone. An enthusiastic player can practice shooting hoops anytime. Since the action never stops, B-ball or junior ball may provide and excellent aerobic workouts and improve agility. Basketball is great sport for promoting high energy and physical endurance. This sport is not just for tall kids. Smaller, lighter kids may be quicker, more agile and at times more coordinated.
Swimming, besides being a lifelong sport and a skill that could save your child's live, is an excellent form of exercise. It works almost every muscle group in your child's body and provides a thorough cardiovascular workout with minimum impact or stress. Kids with discipline, determination and focus may thrive in this sport. To be successful in swimming, you have to be able to set long-term goals and work toward them.
Gymnastics develops motor skills and builds strength. Enhanced self-esteem is a common result from this sport. Also, kids feel challenged and successful whether they are learning how to do a forward roll or a back handspring. Gymnastics is a great sport for kids of all body types who enjoy tumbling, bouncing, and swinging. This is an individual sport and even those who are not natural athletes can work at their own pace and find success.
Martial arts are the best sport for a child to develop self-discipline and life's values. Whether your child is learning aikido, judo, Taekwondo, karate, or any other martial method, your child will boost their balance, control, coordination, flexibility, strength and speed. The emphasis on strong focus, courtesy, respect, and strict self-discipline gives children a psychological edge and helps build character. Working toward the next belt motivates them to set goals. The self-defense skills they will learn will promote confidence and help ward off bullies.
Within most aspects of parenting, being actively involved and talking with your children about their choice of sport and participation is very important. Being proud of accomplishments, sharing in wins and defeats, and talking to them helps them develop skills for success in life. The lessons learned during kid's sports will shape values and behaviors in a positive way for a productive adult life.

Decorating a Sports-Themed Living Room

You are an avid sports fan and your life revolves around your favorite teams and athletes. Decorating your living room to show off your team spirit and loyalty is a must. This can be fun and a perfect way to create a living space for you, your family and your guests to enjoy. Decorating a sports living room can be based on a favorite College or Professional sport, your favorite sports team or just an overall sports themed room where you can kick back, relax and enjoy the game with everyone while showing off your team spirit and loyalty.
You will first need to choose your wall décor whether it be paint or wall paper. Choose your main background color first. This color will set the ambiance of the room. If your decorating scheme is based on your favorite sports team, then the team's colors would be the perfect choice. If your theme is your favorite sport or sports, then any bold or bright color would suffice for the background for your sports-themed living room. You can accent this main color with lighter complimentary or lighter or less bold/bright colors and with wall paper bordering.
You now need to add to this wall décor with sports memorabilia. You can use framed pictures and jerseys, poster, pennants, clock, mirrors and wall decals. These can be from either your favorite sports team or your favorite sport. You can also paint the walls with your favorite sports venue, a basketball hoop, a baseball diamond or a football field. You could also try to find a scoreboard clock or mirror. Each wall can be dedicated to a different topic. Also consider adding a curio or shelf where you can display trophies, replica baseball bats, hat, and helmets and other sports collectibles you may have.
Your next decorating decision is carpet. Choose with you sports-theme in mind. You get carpet in your favorite team's colors or just use a bright/bold color with a sports team rug in the center. For added sports style, you can get carpet that looks like green turf or you can use wood flooring that would give the look and feel of a basketball court.
For furniture décor, choose pieces that compliment your sports theme. Add comfortable bean bag chairs and sports-themed throw blankets and pillows to your comfy sofa, couches and chairs. You can add sports-styled end tables and these can be used to hold you and your guest's food and drinks. Most importantly, add a large flat screen television, 42' or bigger, to the main wall of the living room and be sure that all furniture pieces have a clear view for watching the television.
And, don't forget the lighting. Add sports-themed fans and table, floor and wall lamps. Choose lamps decorated in your favorite team's colors and logos or with a generic sports-theme in mind. These lamps provide illuminating light while allowing you to display your team or sports spirit and loyalty.

Positive Sports Perspective Sign-Up Campaign Starts Here

There are certain sayings that are repeated over and over in the world of youth sports. One of these phrases is "Keep it in perspective." Most sports parent and coaches correctly understand this phrase to mean "Hey, it's only a game" and "They are just kids" and because adults understand, youth sports move along smoothly with no real problems. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. A positive sports perspective usually holds for some adults, but for many others, this perspective only lasts "until" their own child or team is involved. Perspective is often thrown out the window when the first undesirable incident happens to many adult's own child or team.
Unfortunately, adults, who lose perspective, take the fun out of sport for kids and other adults too, with damaging displays for all to see. Parents, who lose perspective, do not realize the negative effect they are creating or do not care because they feel their child is being treated unfairly. Sometimes, these harmful sport stories make the national or regional news, but at the least, they are talked about around the local playing fields. The public displays of negativity in youth sports are only a small part of the "lack of perspective" problem. Even worse are the many parent-child confrontations that occur away from the sports venues, in private, when games are over. These incidents that are not in the public view are just as serious and are often worse when others are not around. These private incidents often damage kids' emotional well-being, at the very least.
The negative incidents will never completely disappear in youth sports because there is so much emotion involved. Youth sports involve competition with emotion, so some intensity is inevitable. The problem is that emotion often gets the best of people under stressful situations and many adults go beyond what is considered acceptable child-rearing behavior. These "out of perspective" adults lose all concept of what youth sports should be about - the kids. Of course, there are many parents and coaches that have a good youth sports perspective and do not create depressive environments for young athletes. Unfortunately, it only takes a few negative situations or comments to ruin things for athletes, and not just those directly involved. Many kids directly involved as well as those that just observe the negative situations often lose their zest for sports at a younger age than they should. Additionally, tension between child and parent is often built to the point where long term relationships are damaged.
What can be done to limit these unfortunate incidents and help adults gain a better perspective when it comes to youth sports?
Like most things, the answer lies in better education of everyone involved with sports. Often, there are preseason instructional clinics for coaches on the skills of the sport, but rarely information on how to effectively work with kids and their parents. Some leagues have handouts for parents before the season, which is a good start; however, this is often a one-time thing with no follow-up as the season progresses when it is most needed. Leagues, sports organizations and schools must do a better job of defining perspective and reinforcing this definition at sporting events, if the negative situations are ever going to be curtailed.
Along with more consistent training for sport parents and coaches on how to deal with kids, parents, umpires and league officials, all youth sports venues should have permanent banners or signs placed at the entrance and/or around these sport facilities. This sign, with a definition of sports perspective, will be visible for all to view, day in and day out. It would be more difficult for adults to get out of line if someone just needs to point at a sign when someone begins to cross the line of inappropriate behavior. Hopefully, the memory of reading the sign will carry over when parents leave games with their kids, too.
Following is one definition of sport perspective, as found in my book, that leagues can copy or model for their signs.
Definition of Sports Perspective:
* always keep in mind the age of the players
* ensuring the physical and emotional health of the child is always most important
* realizing that sports are games and only one aspect of many aspects of a child's life, and not the most important one
* remembering that it is the player's, not the adults, career
* understanding that competition creates emotions, but these emotions should never override good judgment about the four previous points.
Parents, who believe like me and/or are unhappy with the unconstructive direction of their team or league, should approach their sports organizations with this sign-up proposal. The "maintaining perspective" venue signs are especially necessary for travel sports where maintaining perspective adult training is most needed and where there is less organizational control. This would be a good start to help our kids have the enjoyable sports experience they deserve.

Sports-Themed Home Decorating Ideas

Decorating in a sports-theme is appropriate for any room in your house including bedrooms, family rooms, living rooms, hallways and dens. Decorating with a sports-theme in mind comes with many possibilities and allows the fan in you to show off your team or sports spirit and loyalty while providing unique and exciting home décor. A sports-theme is easily adaptable to your unique personality, style and preferences. This décor is widely available now a day and you can use your already collected sports memorabilia to add that special sports touch to any sports-themed room.
First, you need to choose a theme for your room's décor. Sports-themes are endless. You can decorate around a particular College or Professional sports, team or sports in general including décor from different sports. You need to decide first off if you want to decorate around a specific sports or team or around a little bit of everything. This design decision will guide you through the rest of your design process.
If you or your family has a favorite team, decorating around this team should be a natural decision. If not, you can decorate around specific sport(s). You can paint the walls in the bright and bold colors of your team or in a natural bright and bold color like red, blue, orange and/or yellow and decorate the walls with your team's log, mascot or general sports décor. First, stencil the décor on the walls and then paint it. Add wallpaper bordering and wall decals for that special touch. Adding accessories such as throw blankets, pillows, bedding, blankets and rugs with team logos and colors or in shape of baseball, basketballs, footballs or other décor are widely available.
Next, add special accents like pennants and signs for your team or sport(s). These are widely available for a variety of College and Professional teams or generically. They are easy to hang and are a great way to add personality and brightness to a wall. Also, consider adding sports-themed clocks, mirrors and framed jerseys.
For that authentic sporting look and feel, decorate with real sports equipment. You can attach hockey sticks and tennis rackets to the walls. You can display baseballs, footballs, basketballs, and other small sporting goods on shelves and in curio cabinets. Get shoes and skates and hang them from hooks after tying the shoe laces together. Hang a basketball hoop on the wall and fill with foam balls of all types. Place a small soccer goal on one end of a room and place in the goal small sports-themed bean bag chairs or a locker for storage.
Lastly, add sports-themed lighting lamps and accessories to the room. Choose ceiling, wall, or table lamps. Small accent lamps can be used in bathrooms, hallways or in the kitchen. Add light switch covers and night lights for that special touch of your favorite team or sport(s).
Sports-themed decorating is the perfect home décor choice for your entire house. Enjoy

Why Modified Sports Are Perfect for Children

Sports have been known to offer a lot of benefits to man, irregardless of whether the sport is done for leisure, fun, or competitive purposes. Thus, children are encouraged to engage in sports and other physical activities, as these are known to foster cognitive and physical development, which are also beneficial for their age. It is also believed that such activities also help to enhance their self-confidence and a belief they can be more successful in the future as they venture out to pursue their own career path.
But it is also natural for parents to worry about the health and safety of their children. Thus, the concept of modifying sports was innovated and is now becoming more popular as a safer option for children. In fact, it feels more like fun games while incorporating the benefits that sports has to offer them.
Tips for Modifying Sports
Modified sports offers a huge difference from the typical sports done by adults. Here is how they can be modified to make it a lot safer for the children to be involved in:
a) Reduce the size of the playing court or field.
b) Use smaller sized balls and pieces of equipment.
c) Change the rules to become more lenient due to skills limitation.
d) Reduce the amount of time spent on playing the game.
e) Add the amount of protective gears used.
f) Focus more on the game and fun aspect of it, instead of the competitive aspect of the sport.
Common Sports That Are Modified for Junior Athletes
Since the advent of modifying sports for children, there has been numerous sports that have been reduced in intensity level to make them an ideal choice for junior athletes. Some of the most popular sports currently in practice by junior athletes are cricket, golf, tee ball, soccer, netball and little athletics.
Because of the rising popularity for modified junior sports, there are also several pieces of sports equipment designed for children currently available for purchase. Parents should obtain the appropriate piece(s) of equipment as tailored to their child's chosen sporting activity. This will increase the child's safety during play.
Benefits of Modified Sports
If you want to get your child into sports (albeit the modified version), here are some of the reasons you should pursue it:
a) The modified version is as fun and exciting to play as the actual sport from which it was derived. Thus, children will still remain motivated to participate.
b) It is challenging enough for the younger participants, whilst increasing your child's safety.
c) It offers a great avenue for skills development and facilitates the natural growth and progression of your child.
d) It inculcates the importance of sports and outdoor activities for your child, while eliminating the level of physical demand.
e) It offers an even playing field for children of all sizes, ages and skill level.

The technical expertise of the professionals who design and manufacture the Enell bras is very high, which is why they are able to guarantee the supportive function of the designed bras which would allow very less bouncing movement around the breast area as and when they carry on playing their respective sports.
There are many women who used to wear two bras in order to get the required amount of tight fit for the breast so that the discomfort of having big breast bounce could be avoided, however practically speaking this is one of the most uncomfortable ways of dressing up for a high powered sports activity. Moreover when women wear the regular bras during sports activities which are high powered, the frequent bouncing of the breast causes aches and pains in the shoulder area because the regular wear bras have thin straps which are not design to support the bouncing of heavy breasts.
Before the Enell sports bra was first introduced many women from the sports world used to find it difficult to play with full concentration and with the comfort of wearing the right inner wear for sports. However, since the time the Enell sports bras were introduced all the sport personnel's who had the opportunity to try these bras, appreciated the product and over a period of time these bras become very famous among the sport community.
Often women find it embarrassing to carry on trying different sizes of bras in order to find out which one fits them best. Moreover when it comes to sports bras women need to make sure they pick the bras as per their sporting activity so that it provides maximum comfort to them. Enell sports bras stores have a measurement chart which guides them through the process of figuring out the correct size of the bra that they should pick. This is one of the reasons why women find the right bras for themselves very fast when they shop for the Enell bras.
Those of you are into sporting activities and would certainly like to give in your best, by making sure you are dressed comfortably should make it a point to try the word famous Enell bras. Once you try these bras you can be sure of the fact that these bras would be your first preference whenever you would be shopping for sports bras in the future.

How Adding a Sports Simulator to Your Man Cave Can Create a Sports Fanatic's Paradise

Like every man, every man cave is unique. There are man caves for computer nerds, man cave for motor heads, even man caves for crazed golfers. Yet, maybe the most common man room is the hang-out for sports fans. A standard sports fanatic's man cave may look something like this: A big screen TV to watch the big game, numerous sofas and sitting areas for friends to get comfortable, perhaps a bar - or at least a fridge - containing beer to fuel the fanatics, and various bits of sports memorabilia dangling off the walls, mocking the girlfriend or wife as mementos of her boyfriend's or husband's deep love for a game.
Still, a sports fan's man room can be more than a simple theater for watching televised sports. Some guys like to spice it up with a video game console equipped with Madden™ or NBA Live™. This is because, men have a thirst for competition. For the die-hard fan, this is spurred on by watching competitive sports, which only encourages delusional thoughts of extraordinary prowess.
Besides video games, there are other pieces of technology can be added to improve a man cave. Some fellas may use a simulator. One simulator in particular, the mini home sports simulator, uses the man room's already existing giant TV like a video game console.
Sports simulators may not be virtual reality, but they provide a very exciting experience for sports fans. They not only allow guys to beat each other at games, but allow them to fantasize about becoming pro athletes. Sports simulators engage the user by permitting the use of actual sports equipment. For example, users can throw a football, or shoot a hockey puck into the simulator.
A mini home sports simulator has all the capabilities a normal simulator has, but is more practical for a man room. It doesn't take up the space needed for buddies to stretch out their legs and grub on nachos and beer.
For those die-hard sports fanatics, you are a good candidate for an official man cave. No rec room is complete without a simulator to test your grit against a computerized opponent or even your buddies.
Many simulators are too large to fit inside a man cave, but there is hope for the sports fan. A home sports simulator is the perfect substitute. Sports fans can install a mini home sports simulator into their television. Of course, a net is raised in front for the TV to guard it from projectile sports gear.
The miniature sports simulator can become the staple for the man cave. No longer will it be a room only used during game days, but one that can be used every day. Right after you get home, or long into the late hours of the night, you can spend more time enjoying the man room, even if the wife or girlfriend doesn't approve.

The Best Sports Bars in London

I made the splash over the pond last year, moving from my beloved New York City to London. I have always had a special place for London in my heart and when the opportunity came to work in London I could not turn it down.
There are many things that I looked forward to exploring in London, and of course all the museums and famous landmarks were high up on the list but finding a good sports bar in London was certainly the main priority. I am a huge sports fan, I love my American sports, including American Football and Baseball, and so a sport bar in London that showed American sports was essential. I was also keen to embrace the British sports on offer, I was determined to give Cricket a go, and have always followed the English premier league.
After digging around on the internet it became clear that there were plenty of options for sports bars in London. The most famous and prominent one I came across appeared to be The Sports Cafe in Haymarket. I spoke to a few Londoner's and it definitely came recommended so I thought I would try it out first for American Football. The New England Patriots were playing the New York Jets, quite a fierce rivalry, so this was a perfect game to watch in a bar for the atmosphere. Sure enough the Sports Cafe was showing this on the big screen and boy was I impressed with this sports bar. There are TV screens dotted all over the bar, the decor is dedicated to sports, even with a model F1 car, so you walk in knowing that if there is a big sports event on then this London bar sure will have it showing.
There were lots of American Football fans there watching the game and it was great to have table service where we could sit down, enjoy the game and order plenty of beer and a bit of food. The menu is classic American, so lots of Burgers, sandwiches and Chicken wings! After talking to the staff here I also determined that this was truly a 24/7 sports bar as they show live sports all through the night if there is a big game on. For example Cricket fans flock here for the Ashes games between England and Australia so if you are out partying on want to finish the night off in London with sports then this is the place to go.
After the sports bar I was after something a bit more local and authentic as it was definitely more of an American style sports bar. I spoke to a few work colleagues and discovered there were plenty of traditional London pubs showing sports.
The best by far that I came across was The Three Kings in Kensington. This is another dedicated sports bar in London but its set in a huge pub with dedicated zones depending on what game is on, so you might have a bunch of rugby fans crammed in the front room cheering on their team, and then a load of football fans in another area watching the multiple screens. The atmosphere is electric in here with plenty of singing and has fast become one of my favourite bars in London to watch sport.
A few great sports bars in London include the Jetlag bar in central London which has comfy sofas and a nice relaxed atmosphere for watching the games. I also really like The Roxy in London Bridge which doubles up as a cinema in the evenings so this a pretty cool place to watch the Rugby in particular. If you want lively atmosphere then The Clapham Grand is a fantastic setting as it's an old theatre so you can sit back with over 1,200 people and watch on one of the biggest sports screens I have ever seen!
As you can see there are plenty of options for sports bars in London so I hope you enjoy some of these.

What You Need to Know About Sports Betting Information

Many people especially sports fans are interested in sports that it becomes a kind of obsession to them.one very thrilling aspect of sports is watching the games and cheering and supporting a team to win. This makes sports spectacles a very interesting and exhilarating activity for people. Another aspect that get sports fans and enthusiasts hooked on sports is the betting system that is more often involved. Betting is a very old habit of people from many cultures in different parts of the globe that started in the early times of human history. As different sports were developed, betting became associated with it and betting in sports was invented. Sports betting is the activity of placing wagers on the result of a given sporting event. Bettors usually place their bets through mediums known as bookmakers who acts as a market maker for the bettors and keeps a spread to ensure profit regardless of the result of the game.
In some countries sports betting is legal. In the United States, sport gaming is illegal except for a few states. In Europe, it is moderated and not forbidden. The legality of sport betting is a crucial issue to many sport institutions. There are many proponents from both sides, the ones who approve of legalizing it and those who oppose it. Like in some countries, underground bookmakers are so rampant that the authority decided to legalise soccer betting, giving odds matching if not better than illegal betting house.
Today, sport betting found a more convenient channel for sports wagers to participate in, the internet. Sports bettors are now able to make use of the internet to place their bets and gain access to numerous sports betting information and tips to help them beat the odds in betting. Many online sites offer their sport betting information and services to sports wagers. Another factor important in sport betting is the act of tipping. Many bettors want to win by contacting tipsters for best picks and bets on specific sports event. Tipsters are persons who have inside access to the sports, the teams or the players in the game. They are generally more knowledgeable than bettors because of this and have information not available to the public. Tipsters trade or sell their tips to bettors. The transaction can be done through the net or through the phone. Many people should be wary of these services because most of them are scam operations and play on the nature of gambling to lure and deceive enthusiastic sports wagers.

Keeping The American Competitive Sport's Spirit Alive: Part I Of A III Part Series

This is part one of a three-part series about America, it's love of sport and the competitive spirit that makes America the splendid nation that it is. America has always been viewed as a land of magnificent opportunities, where our early ancestors in pursuit of the American Dream and the "Hope" that it inspired dared to explore new horizons and freedom of choice and action. To do this, immigrant Americans have endured enormous injustices, inhumanities, and severe hardships as they were woven into the grain of American life. Our forefathers had incredible courage, faith and confidence when it came to maintaining the right mental attitude in the midst of such negative external forces. Most of these early immigrants had strong ambitions. They dared to dream and reach for higher horizons even though they knew that they were living in the midst of a cutthroat, competitive society. They needed to find ways to outperform and outwit the locals. There was no time to waste on indecision's like "Do we fight or flee, make excuses and blame, or give it our all?" They knew what they wanted and had an unwavering belief that they would eventually succeed, taking the plunge by moving forward with a burning desire to win or perish despite all outward setbacks and obstacles. The key factor for their survival was to win, and in order to win they needed to compete against others. They sacrificed and toiled unceasingly, making significant contributions to the economic strength of America. The new image culled from the remote wilderness helped mold and maintain the enterprise system that has made America what it is today, the financial center of the World. Whether they worked on farms, in factories, building railroads, bridges, towns and cities, their rewards were greater than any country could ever offer. They competed, and they won.
Since the beginning of civilized life, man has been forced to compete for survival. Competition is also the driving force of progress. Capitalism is based on competition. It's built to reward winners, the strong, the smart and the driven. In a sense, capitalism is a test of skill or ability; a contest. It is the desire to always be the first and the best. Within these early immigrants existed a tremendous source of creative ideas that needed to be developed to its fullest, and in doing so, they would be encouraged to "go for it...try harder...do more...to win." It was that competitive energy and strength of character that would get them up in the morning and encourage them to keep trying time and time again. It was that same competitive spirit that created business giants of the era such as the Astors, who were one of the landholding and mercantile families that made substantial fortunes during the early nineteenth century. Then there was Cornelius Vanderbilt and Andrew Carnegie, multimillionaires who reaped mammoth financial rewards from investments in transportation and industry. Let's not forget J.P. Morgan who came to the forefront of American finance; Rockefeller in oil, the Armours, Swifts and Morris in meat packing, the Havemeyers in sugar, the Dukes in tobacco and many, many more. They were the champions who made it to the finish line the quickest they were sharp and intellectual perhaps the best men of business in the world. The fact that they may have started from comparative obscurity with nothing in their hands, yet they did have confidence, ambition, and a strong desire to gain an advantage over their competitors. It is these qualities that brought them commercial success. Being competitive can bring out the best as well as the worst in us, and for some individuals, it doesn't matter how they do it or at what cost they succeed, as long as they end up winning. America is and always has been obsessed with winning.
Man's competitive spirit has enjoyed many centuries and continues to expand to other areas and professions governed by competition. It is an ever-present aspect of life. The introductions of technological innovations have led to vastly improved standards of living for the American people to enjoy an unparalleled freedom of leisure time, especially when it comes to SPORTS. The 1920's are oftentimes referred to as the "Golden Age of Sports." Needless to say, sports have provided many Americans with a much-needed escape from the hardships and humdrum routine of their daily lives. With the economic boom of the 1920's, radio and the automobile were one of the foremost consumer products of that era. With the purchase of a radio, farm families from even the remotest corners of the country were brought into immediate and daily contact with the rest of the nation. This meant a farmer in rural upstate New York could listen to a Yankees game as it played out in the Bronx. Sports were greatly stimulated with the coming of radio. The difference between newspaper and radio coverage was that the newspapers would inform the sports enthusiasts about the game events a day after the event, while the radio provided coverage while it was happening in real-time. Plus, it was more exciting to hear a commentator's voice in the midst of cheers and boos of the crowd. The radio delivered prize fights and baseball games to those who were not able to observe them in person. Families and friends in rural and urban areas used the broadcasting of sporting events to escape sheer boredom and isolation. They gathered around the radio to listen to commentators talk about the big battle of the century in 1921 between Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey and Georges Carpentier of France. Let's not forget the championship bout of 1927 between Dempsy and Gene Tunney. Most importantly they listened to Babe Ruth who was the greatest sports star of all times, as he swatted sixty home runs in 1927, a record which stood until 1961. Needless to say, even women were celebrated in sports, such as Gertrude Ederle in 1926 who became the first woman to swim the English Channel.
Although the radio had a high priority in just about every household as a form of entertainment from early morning until far into the night, the automobile revolutionized the use of leisure time. Meanwhile, sports began flourishing, as it was thickly covered with the press, movies, the radio and magazines such as Sports Illustrated and others. These mediums played a pivotal role in boosting the profile of sport and its competitive sport heroes. Books were being written about the different sports teams and the individual super heroes. Such was the popularity of these 1920's sport stars that they will never be forgotten. Sports museums and Halls of Fame's all around the United States honor these athletic icons from the past and present. Now with lesser working hours and more leisure time on their hands, sports enthusiasts were able to flock in record numbers to wrestling and boxing matches, to baseball and football games. The Notre Dame-Army game, which was held, at the Polo Grounds in Manhattan, New York during 1924, attracted at least 55,000 fans. This Anglo-American tradition of competitive sport, which at one time was an amateur past time, was now becoming professionalized and commercialized on a much higher level. In 1930, Babe Ruth negotiated an $80,000 annual salary with the New York Yankees.
The consequences of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 as well as the Great Depression had a profound, negative impact in the Sports Industry as attendance plummeted. However, as for the amateur and the professional spectator sports, some were able to eventually recover most of their former stature of the 1920's.
So here we are, 11 years into the 21st century, still obsessed with competitive sports. Sports we have inherited from our forefathers with decades of history, but only two will be the focus of my attention in this ongoing series. In part, two of this three-part series, I'll explore the history of two of America's favorite competitive sports, boxing and baseball.

Winter Sports Vs Summer Sports

Winter sports Vs summer sports, who will win? As you may already know seasons require different types of sports for the younger and older generation. It definitely depends in which state, area and country you live as well. The season and temperature require different types of sports. Let's have a look at some sports you can perform in each season.
Winter sports:
Some classical winter sports are definitely, indoor swimming, gymnastic, basketball, ice hockey and indoor tennis. These sports can be performed at any given season, regardless of whether it is cold or not. People like indoor activities during the colder season because it simply helps them to stay fit and in shape during the entire year. Some people tend to only do sports in summer which leads to a non balanced lifestyle and health. If you want to become successful in the areas of health, profession, and sports you definitely need to do winter sports as well.
Summer sports:
People mean there are more summer sports than winter sports, so what is true? Well in summer you have the possibility to face many outdoor activities such as soccer, basketball, street hockey, beach activities, water sports, tennis jogging, hiking, climbing etc. There are probably as many possibilities in summer as there are in winter. The only difference is that we human beings tend to be lazy when it is cold outside. Summer sports help us to stay in shape and enjoy the sunny days during the hotter and warmer season. There are different kinds of activities you can perform that are single player and multiplayer. Playing soccer, basketball, and street hockey requires at least 2 players, better more. The fun and enjoyment factor is multiple times higher if you play with your friends, family and other people you do know. Doing sports alone is mostly boring and not appropriate. However, sports such as jogging and swimming can be performed by one person and don't require a second person.
How do you know which winter and summer sports are going to be optimal for you? You simply have to try different activities to find the one that will match your flavor and tendency best. However, if you spend time with people you love, and aim to get in shape you probably won't mind doing multiple sports at a season. Every sport has a different focus and trains different muscles. Just going to the gym might be too one-sided, so you should be motivated to do at least 3 sports at a time.
